Leeds League Premiership:
York Vikings (1) 68
- Deighton Ryders 61

Team 1 was back in action on Tuesday, hosting league runner-up Deighton Ryders.

With several Team 1 members unavailable for the game, a few Team 2 players had to play up. Ryders also struggled with players and only fielded 5 for the game.

The away team started the scoring hitting a 3 in the first minute. However, the Vikings responded strongly closing out the shooters and cloaking the lanes, which in turn led to a number of fast break points. At the 5-minute mark, the score was 8 - 3. However, Ryders managed to improve their defence in turn and started moving the ball well on the perimeter and hitting their open shots to go on a 13 - 2 run for the second part of the first quarter. First quarter score 16 - 10.

Having relied on the fast break in the first quarter, Vikings came back in the second half moving the ball well against the zone to create space for the shooters. The York team hit 5 three-pointers in the quarter, whilst tightening their defence. With a clear second-quarter score of 25 - 11 in favour of Vikings, it also meant a 35 - 27 halftime score for the home team.

Vikings continued with their hot shooting from the outside after half-time, while Deighton managed to take advantage of a couple of turnovers to keep the game close in the third quarter. 3rd quarter score was 14-13 for the home team.

With a 9-point lead going into the last quarter, Vikings continued to play confident basketball building the lead to 17 points with 5 minutes left. Ryders switched their defence, employing a pressure half-court defence and thus forcing turnovers and bad shots. Combined with their great defence Deighton once more hit their shots from the outside. With 1 minute to go Ryders managed to make the score 61 - 66. With Vikings having possession, Ryders tried to stop the clock. Having only fouled once before in the quarter, meant they could not take advantage of sending Vikings to the free-throw line. As a result, with only 12 seconds left Jonathan Copley found himself open under the basket to make it 68 - 61 and seal the win.

Notes: Vikings 11 three-pointers were a season high. Jake Butler led the team with a career-high 27 points and matched his career-high 5 three-pointers. Jonathan Copley had a season-high 19 points and matched his career-high 4 three-pointers.
