On Thursday Team 1 hosted the Hustlers from Horsforth.

Vikings started out playing a 3-2 zone, disrupting both the perimeter shooters and Hustlers big man. This limited the visiting team to begin with and York went on a 9 - 2 run in the first 4 minutes. The team from Horsforth adjusted and started making their shots, going on a subsequent 6 - 0 run. Vikings were able to counter and the first quarter finished 18 - 13 for the home team.

Some quick steals by the Hustlers in the beginning of the 2nd quarter and a few open shots, meant that in the first 4 minutes the visiting team went on a 9 - 2 run and took the lead. Once again Vikings recovered and managed to get back into the game to go ahead once again. Half time score to be 31- 26.

With the start of the second half, Hustlers started to employ a 2 big man line up (with both of Hustlers big men towering over the Vikings), forcing the ball inside and Vikings fouling as they were trying to stop them. Hustlers were very accurate offensively and as a result Vikings could not get out on the fast break. Hustlers took the quarter 20 - 12 to go up by 4 points.

The defences got tighter in the last quarter and both teams showed signs of fatigue and as a result the level of team basketball dropped. Hustlers managed to win the last quarter 10 - 8 and thus the game.
