York Vikings Basketball Club
Leeds League Premiership:
York Vikings (1) 45
- Mandela Warriors 77
27 February 2025

The final season game for the Prem Team was hosting the Mandela Warriors, who were third in the league. With the Prem team having being depleted throughout the season with injuries and players various otherwise commitments, the final game was no different. Only 3 players that were originally part of the first team were available for the game.
Despite this the players who stepped up, took up the baton alongside the remaining Team 1 players against a strong Mandela Warriors site. The Vikings held their own in the first quarter playing some good team basketball. However they were unable to match the Warriors, with the the away team taking the first quarter 23 - 16.
The Warriors had a blistering start in the 2nd quarter scoring 7 unanswered points in the first minute, setting the tone for the 2nd quarter and going on to win the quarter 24 - 12. Half time score 47 - 28.
Vikings still kept a positive mindset and with some key adjustments on the defensive end and playing a more physical style of basketball won the third quarter 15 - 11.
Having found a defence that worked, the Vikings continued putting a strong effort on the defensive end holding the Warriors to 15 points. However, on the offensive end the York team struggled to make their shots only scoring 6 points. As a result, the Mandela Warriors took the win.
Notes: Robert Wright made his Vikings debut, making him the 35th player in the 2024-2025 season to have worn the Vikings kit.
