Leeds League Premiership:
Mandela Warriors 75
- York Vikings 51

York Vikings continued to struggle with available players, and as a result travelled to Leeds with only 7 players to face the Mandela Warriors.

With the late arrival of Asher Lynch, the team started out with only 6 players and the team only had Adam Wright as the only big of the team. The 3 rotation bigs of the Warriors were all taller than Adam, with their starting Center a head taller. Despite the clear size disadvantage that the Vikings faced, Adam Wright managed to defensively control their bigs, in a 2 - 3 zone employed by the team. Jamie Boynton, Stefan Marz managed to help at the back line, with David Joseph occassionally playing effectively in the back. At the front, Dimitris Armelinos, Sam Thornhill and David Joseph made it difficult for their perimeter players. Despite a few difficulties on the offensive end for the Vikings and even with a lack of calls the team kept fighting.

Warriors kept playing patiently and seizing every opportunity given to attack the basket and take advantage of their size. The first quarter ended 17 - 14 and the second quarter 14 - 12, making it a half time score of 31 - 26 for the Warriors.

With the game still within reach and Asher Lynch arriving to bolster the numbers, Vikings stayed positive and managed to match the Warriors until the 6th minute, but were unable to close the gap further. However, with Warriors targeting the only big of the Vikings, managed to get Adam Wright to 4 fouls in the 7th minute. As a result forcing a substitution and a change in defence to a man to man. Asher Lynch now was forced to guard the biggest player on the court. Warriors played entirely through their big, drawing fouls continuously throughout the last 3 minutes and going on a 10 - 0 run. As a result the score at the end of the 3rd was 56 - 39.

For the start of the 4th quarter Adam Wright re-entered the game, and Warriors immediately targeted him to foul him out of the game. Vikings subsequently had to play with only Guards and Small Forwards for the remainder of the game. Asher Lynch continued to guard their big and managed to do so more and more effectively. With the Vikings learning to deal with the size disadvantage throughout the game this Vikings line up managed to contain the Warriors big and play a tough last quarter to keep the score respectable.

Notes: Dimitris Armelinos 20 points were a career high with the Vikings, while Stefan Marz had a season high in points and three pointers made.

Game MVP: Dimitris Armelinos
