Leeds League Division 2 Semi Final:
Jorvik Warriors (1) 75
- York Vikings (2) 69

After a fantastic performance by the Vikings against Calderdale in the Quarter Finals, Vikings were looking to avenge their loses against local rival Jorvik Warriors firsts. The new format has the semi-finals as a knock out game in a central venue (Bradford).

The game started out slow for both teams with Vikings taking an early lead. The zone employed through the Warriors off, unable to hit their shots. This disruption allowed for a few fast breaks for the Vikings. With Andy Capes entering the game, the shots for Vikings started to drop led by Andy's 7 points in the quarter. First quarter ended 18 - 12 for Vikings.

The game continued with high intensity and a lot of physicality. Vikings continued with their stingy defence and patient offence. Although, Vikings struggled to convert inside the arc, as Warriors packed the paint, the three pointers finally started to drop after missing all 9 of them in the first quarter. The patience and tight defence, led by Andy Capes and Sam Thornhill's scoring, the Vikings took the second quarter 20 -13. Half time score 38 - 25.

Warriors needing to reduce the deficit, put out an athletic team on the court to start the second half and employed a full court press. Vikings once again struggled to progress the ball against this pressure, resulting in turnover after turnover (10 in the quarter alone). A time out did not help to change the dynamics. Warriors started gaining in confidence and hitting shot after shot, while Vikings could not get back to playing their game. As a result Warriors went on a 16 - 0 run for the first 6 minutes of the quarter and also managed to get Matt Theakstone fouled out. As a result of this Warriors went ahead 41 - 38, before Stefan Marz hit a 3 to tie the game. Despite that the Warriors managed to keep scoring and win the quarter 22 - 7, with Stefan Marz being the only Viking to score in the quarter. End of third quarter score Warriors 47 - Vikings 45.

Warriors boosted by their 3rd quarter performance continued their strong play. Vikings, on the other hand, continued to struggled to stop the Warriors and still did not manage to take care of the ball (committing 7 turnovers in the quarter). This resulted the Warriors going on another huge run. This time it was 18 - 5 (with only Andy Capes scoring) for the first 6.5 minutes of the final quarter. The game looked like ti was over with a 65 - 50 score for the higher seed. Stefan Marz once again hit a 3 to stop the scoring drought, but fouled out on the next possession (this turned out to be a table error). The Vikings called a time out with 2.5 minutes left and the score 67 - 55. Following the time out the Vikings upped their defence pressure across the full court and started moving the ball with confidence looking for the open 3. Seb Shepherdson hit a mid range shot to cut the lead to 10, before Warriors scored again with an And 1, to go ahead by 13. Vikings immediately responded with a 3 by Sam Thornhill. Vikings then fouled in the next possession to send the Warriors to the line. Warriors converted 1 of 2, making it an 11 point game. Another good offense by Vikings ended with Sam Thornhill hitting another big 3 to bring the game back within 8 points. A subsequent quick steal by Jacob Hancock and another 3 by Sam Thornhill brought the game within 5 points with 1 minute 15 seconds left. Warriors managed to score another 2, before Anthony Holdsworth answered with a 3 to make the score 73 - 69. With 55 seconds left Warriors called a time out. A tight defence by Vikings after the time out forced Warriors to miss a lay up, but Vikings were unable to convert on the other end as well. With less than 30 seconds left, Vikings fouled quickly, but Warriors managed to convert both free throws to make it 75 - 69. Warriors kept their defence tight in the final possession guarding beyond the three point line and forcing a difficult shot by the Vikings that missed. Despite Vikings late game heroics the team did not manage to fully erase the deficit and Warriors progress to the final.

Game MVP: Sam Thornhill

Notes: A fantastic effort by everyone and despite the loss a good finish to the season. Sam Thornhill had a career high 3s with 4 in a game.
