Leeds League Division 2 Quarter Final:
York Vikings (2) 69
- Calderdale Hawks (1) 53

After the York Vikings managed to finish 4th in the D2 league, the team entered the Play Off Quarterfinals facing the first team of Calderdale Hawks. The Quarterfinals being a best of three the Vikings were looking to start the Playoff season strong.

This was a tall task as Vikings had lost both season games against the Hawks. However, for the first time in a while the Vikings had the majority of the team available for the game.

Vikings started out the game well, scoring the first 2 points. However, the Hawks quickly picked the zone apart and managed to score and win the rebound battle. As a result the away team went on a 9 - 0 run over the next 4 minutes. Eventually, Vikings recovered and managed to close in and only lose the first quarter 11 - 8.

With a nearly full squad, the York team switched the defence up and went to a man to man half court press. Fielding a quick team of Guards and Forwards. The Vikings managed to keep this intense defensive pressure up for nearly 8 minutes with only 1 substitution. This threw the Hawks of their game and the home team went on a 22 - 4 run during that period. This resulted in York Vikings going into half time 35 - 25 ahead.

Buoyed by their strong 2nd quarter performance the defence continued to be aggressive and the offence kept humming. Vikings as a result took the third quarter as well, winning 20 - 12.

Leading by 18 points going into the last quarter the Hawks tried mounting a come back by quickly scoring 5 points. They were stopped in their tracks by Stefan Marz making two consecutive threes. The game continued back and forth for the last quarter with Hawks taking it by 2 points. However, Vikings managed to win the game holding on to their big lead.

Game Notes: Matt Theakstone, Anthony Holdsworth, Asher Lynch, Jonny Copley and Sam Thornhill executed a 2nd half press beautifully and all could have been Game MVP on that note.

Game MVP: Sam Thornhill (had primary assignment of their main scoring threat)
