Leeds League Division 2 Quarter Final:
Calderdale Hawks (1) 47
- York Vikings (2) 51

The Vikings team went to Halifax to play the 2nd game of the quarter final best of 3 series, having won the first game at home. With several key players from the first game unavailable, the Vikings had a tough match up. Additionally, with the 3rd team having struggled for players the night before 2 of the 8 players were playing back to back.

Calderdale knowing they had to win the game to extend their season and force a deciding 3rd game, came out strong, dominating the boards both defensively and offensively with their 2 bigs (6ft7+) towering over the team from York. Both of these players did not play in the first match up, thus taking the Vikings by surprise. With the Vikings unable to adjust and being called on a high number of fouls, the Hawks dominated the first quarter 21 - 7.

However, with the start of the 2nd quarter and defensive assignments re-arranged, the Vikings boxing out better to be able to keep the bigs of the boards meant the Vikings got back into the game. Adding strong defence and timely baskets, Vikings took the second quarter 15 - 6. Half time score 27 - 22 for the home team.

Hyped by the great second quarter the York team continued with their strong defence and patient offence to win the third quarter 14 - 9 and tie the game.

Both teams came ready to battle in the 4th quarter. Hawks motivated to keep their season alive and Vikings driven by the opportunity to take the win and secure a place in the semi final. Both teams put on the floor everything they had and fought for every lose ball. But Anthony Holdsworth decided to have the quarter of his life and took matters into his on hands. Known for his defence, Anthony not only distributed the ball well on offense but hit two big threes and managed to get to the line, scoring 8 of the 15 Vikings points in the final quarter. With under the 30 seconds to go the score was 49 - 47 for the Vikings and Hawks had possession. The Vikings were all engaged in defence to stop Calderdale scoring giving the Hawks no breathing space. With a drive attempt and 10 seconds remaining a Hawks player lost the ball, with Stefan Marz grabbing the lose ball and passing it up the court to a running Matt Theakstone who scored a fastbreak layup while being fouled, and as a result securing a 4 point win and a place in the semi final.

Notes: Anthony Holdsworth had a season high in points and three pointers.
