York Vikings Basketball Club
Leeds League Division 2:
York Vikings (2) 43
- Calderdale Hawks (1) 56
6 February 2025

Following the away lose at Calderdale, Vikings were looking to avenge that game.
The team started the game with really slow energy levels struggling to protect the paint or get out to the three point shooters. The Hawks took advantage of this and managed to score 21 points against only 7.
Vikings improved their defence switching to man and pressuring on a half court basis in the second quarter. This stopped the Hawks, who only managed 4 points. At the same time the 3 point shots started falling and Vikings made 15 points.
Half time score 31 - 22.
However, the third quarter was a reversal. Vikings missed defensive assignments and struggled against a zone defence by the Hawks turning the ball over. As a result the team committed quite a few fouls trying to recover on defence. Hawks dominated the quarter as a result 14 - 2.
Once again Vikings managed to fight back. Putting a strong quarter and scoring 19 points. However, Hawks still managed to score 12 points, which was not enough to close the wide gap.
Game MVP: Dan Day
Notes: Azaan Iyer had his best game with Vikings scoring 8 points (2 three pointers). Dan Day had his 5 consecutive game scoring double digit points.
