Leeds League Division 2:
York Vikings (2) 31
- Jorvik Warriors (1) 68
29 February 2024

After winning two games in a row, Vikings 2 hosted local rivals Jorvik Warriors 1 for the final regular season game. Despite the game having no impact on the standings, it was still promising to be intense, due to the local rivalry.
Jorvik Warriors were geared up for the game, showing up 15 minutes before the sports hall was even available. Their second team came down to support plus friends and family. Despite quite a record number of Vikings supporters coming down, Warriors fans outnumbered the home teams fans.
The Warriors started the game with high energy and played a very well structured game, straight away winning any 50-50 situations and hitting some big shots. They went on a 13 - 2 run in the first 5 minutes. However, Vikings picked up the intensity as well and managed to play the Warriors even for the second part of the quarter, leading to a score of 23 - 12 Warriors.
Defences improved in the second quarter, but Vikings were unable to score. After having a high percentage from the three over the last few games, Vikings could not make any of their open shots in this game. This resulted in Vikings scoring only 4 points in the second quarter. Half time score: 37 - 16 for the away team.
The 3rd quarter started really bad for the team. With shots being missed and turnovers leading to quick fast break points for the Warriors. Warriors went on a 12 - 0 run in the first 3 minutes. Eventually the Vikings managed to get back to their game and control the pace. However, shots just didn't keep falling. The final 7 minutes of the quarter ended 6 - 4 for Warriors.
In the 4th quarter the good defence of the end of the 3rd continued and slowly the odd shots went in. The on-court intensity was great and after 15 attempts, a couple of threes finally dropped. However, Warriors still won the quarter by 2 to close out the game.
