Leeds League Division 2:
Bingley Titans 56
- York Vikings (2) 58

Vikings Div 2 team, following their first win of the season, travelled on Sunday to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales to play the Bingley Titans. Vikings were looking to put together a win streak, but several players were unavailable, including the teams 2 big men. Furthermore, Bingley Titans in the first encounter this season demolished the York team 71 - 28. Sam Taylor made his return from injury just in time to enable Vikings to field 8 players.

With Wale Hassan being the only big man, it meant that Anthony Holdsworth primarily, but also Vali Moldovan, Stefan März and Matthew Theakstone had to play often big on the defensive end, while on offense Darren Taylor and Tom Lindley helped out in the interior. Sam Taylor caused havoc on the perimeter both defensively and offensively.

Bingley Titans also had only 7 players, which meant that both teams employed zone defences. The defences worked to begin with limiting both teams to a low scoring first quarter of 8 a piece.

Each team managed to get into the flow of the game in the 2nd quarter. with the ball starting to move and opportunities being created to get the open shots. The second half ended on par as well, leading to a 24 - 24 score each.

The Vikings team were extremely encouraged by being able to play with the Titans on the same level, whilst managing to score in a half nearly the same amount of points as the entirety of last game.

Unlike in previous games the York team continued to play with confidence and move the ball to the open player. With a few timely three's in the quarter and a few good stops meant Vikings winning the quarter by 3 points (15 - 12).

With the second win looking possible, Vikings managed to keep their composure. Titans keen to stop the three pointer fouled both Anthony Holdsworth and Stefan März on the three point shot. With reasonable accuracy the Viking players made 5 out of 6 free throws. Titans managed to close the gap to 2, but another 3 made it a 5 point differential. However, Bingley didn't give up and made the game even once more and even managed to go ahead. A couple of tough lay ups by Darren Taylor and Matthew Theakstone put Vikings ahead by three, with 2 minutes to go. However, a titanic 3 by Bingley pulled them even. A turnover by York, and a quick offense by Bingley let to the Titans winning a shooting foul. They made 1 of 2, to take the lead again. Vikings could not hit the next shot and Titans were in offense once again, with just over 1 minute to go. Titans moved the ball well and found the gap on the perimeter to drive to the basket. However Anthony Holdsworth realized the danger and the fact that Vikings were not yet at team fouls, quickly fouled the driving player. It was deemed a foul on the floor, meaning an inbound instead of free throws which enraged the home team. After the inbound Stefan März managed to deflect a pass in the paint, with Darren Taylor picking up the lose ball and passing it to Matthew Theakstone, who quickly managed to score two points and for Vikings to take the lead. Subsequently Titans managed to get a pass close to the rim with two Vikings player trying to stop the attack, causing a travel violation. The home team did not agree, which led to a technical. With Vikings hitting the free throw and having possession, and only a couple of seconds left, meant that Vikings managed to get their second victory of the season.

Notes: Stefan März had a career high 21 points, with 5 three pointers (matching a career high), and it was his personal best 4th game in a row of making at least 1 three pointer. Darren Taylor also had a season high with 10 points.
