LBL Division 2:
York Vikings (2) 61
- Jorvik Warriors (2) 39

Having played and lost the last game of 2025 against local rivals Jorvik Warriors, Vikings seconds had the chance to avenge the game in their first game of 2026. With a number of Vikings unavailable for the game Vali Moldovan stepped up to player coach and Sam Melvin stepped down to bolster the team.

The start of the game was slow for both teams with Warriors scoring the first bucket in the third minute. The Warriors good start continued going ahead 7 - 1 until the 6th minute. The Vikings defence finally clicked and the first shots starting falling. Vikings went on a 8 - 0 run to close out the quarter.

The momentum continued into the second quarter with Vikings scoring a further 4 unanswered points for the first 4 minutes. The home teams defence continued to suffocate the Warriors, limiting the away team to only 4 points in the quarter. Sam Melvin led the Vikings offense in the quarter scoring 6 of the 9 Vikings points.

After a very low scoring first half, Vikings came out scoring at will in the third. Warriors offence improved as well, but the home teams defence held up. Behind Nelvin Lau's three 3-pointers, Vikings went on to score 27 points against 11 points for the visitors.

Carrying a 23 point lead, the defensive intensity dropped in the last quarter. Both teams exchanged baskets, with Warriors taking the last quarter 17 - 16.

Notes: Sam Melvin had a career best 18 points with Vikings against his former team. With this game both the local derbies for the regular season have been completed with both the firsts and seconds splitting the games with Warriors.
