York Vikings Basketball Club
LBL Division 2:
York Vikings (2) 57
- Spen Valley Vipers (1) 84
20 November 2025

After having suffered the first home defeat the week prior, Vikings seconds were looking to bounce back. The York team was hosting the Vipers from Spen Valley.
Once the game started the Vikings were surprised to face a full court press straight of the bat. However, Vikings with a lay up by Hussein Kahil managed to be the first to score. After that though, the home team struggled against the press and to make any shots. That led to the Vipers going on a 10 - 2 run over the next three minutes. Eventually the shots fell and the next 4 minutes went to the Vikings 8 - 4. The substitution rotation eventually let to the whole bench being on the court. Vikings now struggled immensely with the press turning the ball repeatedly over and allowed the Vipers to go on a 10 - 0 run in less than 90 seconds. Final first quarter score 28 - 14 for the away team.
The first couple of minutes of the second quarter were still tough for the York team, with Spen Valley scoring 5 unanswered points. Eventually Vali Moldovan hit a 3, and the York offence started to click again until the 6th minute. With the home team getting called consistently on fouls, the team struggled to stay within rhythm. Second quarter score 22 - 14 for Vipers.
Half time score: 50 - 28 for Spen Valley.
The Vikings kept being called for fouls and offensively the team struggled to take care of the ball. However, the defensive effort and the Vipers offence was contained to some degree. Nevertheless, the turnovers were costly and Vipers once again won the quarter 13 - 9.
With the game out of reach, Vikings fought to keep the score respectable. The defensive intensity continued to be strong matching Vipers physicality. However, Vikings still kept being called for fouls. This sent the Vipers 22 times to the line in the quarter alone, which allowed them to keep up with the score. Vikings on the other hand had no fouls called in their favour. Despite that the home team kept making their shots consistently. Final quarter score was 21 - 20 for Spen Valley,
Notes: Adrian Kam scored for the first time as a Viking.
Game MVP: No MVP for this game.
