York Vikings Basketball Club
LBL Division 2:
Horsforth Hustlers (2) 51
- York Vikings (2) 78
20 October 2025

The Vikings seconds travelled to Pudsey in West Yorkshire to play the return game against Horsforth Hustlers 2s. The York team had won the home game by 6 points and was looking to make it a regular season sweep.
Vikings started the game with a quick 2 points to open up the scoring. Between the 3rd and the 6th minute the Vikings went on a 9 - 0 run to open up a lead. Hustlers got back in the game and managed to close the gap slightly before the end of the quarter. First quarter score 19 - 13 for the away team.
Hustlers came out strongly from the break, containing Vikings for the first 5 minutes, while quickly going on the offensive. As a result, Hustlers went on a 7 - 2 run during that time period and closing the gap to 1 point. A time out by the team from York, a regroup and Vikings went back controlling the game and closing out the quarter on a 14 - 2 run. Second quarter 16 - 9 for Vikings and half time score of 35 - 22.
With the Vikings having led throughout the entire game so far and having a 13 point lead, it was key not to get overconfident and keep the lead to take home the W. As expected the Hustlers came out strong disrupting the Vikings offence, but the team from Horsforth still struggled to score themselves and could not put in a proper run. Vikings managed to adjust the offence at the half way point of the quarter in order to keep and even build the lead to 16 points.
With a commanding lead, Vikings started the last quarter on fire, going on a 13 - 0 run to go ahead 29 points and seal the deal.
Notes: Stephen Rowley had a career high 9 points, while Jonathan Wetherley tied his Vikings personal best with 14 points. Stefan März had his third consecutive game scoring in double figures, a Vikings personal best. Stefan März also had his 8th consecutive game scoring at least 1 three pointer, tying for 4th best such Viking streak, behind Andy Capes (2 longest streaks) and Kevin Denamganai).
Game MVP: Jonathan Wetherley
