LBL Division 2:
Holme Valley Demons (2) 52
- York Vikings (2) 36
16 October 2025

Vikings 2 travelled to the edge of the Peak District to play Holme Valley Demons seconds.
Holme Valley deployed a 3 - 2 zone that tended to collapse towards the middle. As a result the team struggled to score near the basket or even get the ball into the key. Vikings adjusted and kept moving the ball and managed to get a number of open 3 point shots. Stefan März hit 2 and Vali Moldovan 1 giving the Vikings 100% from the three point line in the quarter. There were Vikings only made baskets in the quarter. However, a strong man-to-man defence kept the Demons contained and Vikings managed to take the first quarter 9 to 8.
The Demons tried to adjust their positioning in the zone to limit Vikings 3-point shooting. Vikings continued with their strong defence and ball movement. The strong defence allowed for some steals and a few quick baskets. The Demons defence focus on limiting the 3 pointer allowed for Vikings to attack the basket more, putting together a more balanced offence. Vikings managed to win the 2nd quarter 16 - 12, for a half time score of 25 - 20.
Demons half time pep talk worked wonders on their defence. The 3-2 zone became more active. Pressuring the Vikings perimeter players further out, while quickly collapsing when the ball went inside. This forced a number of turnovers, leading to quick points for Demons. At the same time Demons shots started falling, while Vikings struggled to make any shots. This led to a move away from the successful ball movement on offence adding to the struggles. The Demons played a dominant 3rd quarter winning 21 - 4.
With a 12 point lead and Vikings struggling to find their form, the Demons continued to play strong in the start of the 4th quarter. Eventually the away teams defence got back into form leading to a few stops and resulting in some key baskets to make the last quarter a more even game. Demons still managed to win that quarter 11 - 7 to take the game.
Game MVP: Stefan März
