York Vikings Basketball Club
LBL Division 1:
York Vikings (1) 69
- Holme Valley Demons (1) 63
6 November 2025

Vikings firsts were back in action hosting the Demons from Holme Valley.
Charlie McNichol started of the scoring with his first three for York Vikings, followed by a basket from Anthony Holdsworth. However, the team from Holmfirth got it's offence going and went on a 11 - 4 run to take the lead in the 5th minute. Substituting Ka Hei Tse, Matt Theakstone, Richard Baister and Jonathan Wetherley in to play alongside Jonny Copley changed the dynamics, by focusing on defence and limiting the Demons to 6 points for the rest of the quarter. However, other than Jonny Copley, who scored 8 points (2 x 3PM) to close out the quarter, the rest of the team struggled to make shots. Final first quarter score was 17 a piece.
The second quarter had a more back and forth feel to it until the 7th minute, when Vikings switched to a man defence and it was Andy Capes's turn to close out the quarter with 6 points (1 x 3PM). As a result the home team took the second quarter 14 - 11 and with that had a 3 point lead at the half.
The Demons recalibrated at the half, starting the third quarter strong with a 7 - 0 run in the first 3 minutes to go ahead by 4. However, Jonny Copley managed to hit first a 2 and then a 3 to get Vikings back into the game. After the 6th minute Ali Lyons got in to the zone hitting 4 threes and outscoring the Demons 12 - 3. Third quarter score 18 - 17 for the team from York.
With only 4 points separating both teams, all was to play for in the last quarter. The Demons started out strong going on a 5 - 0 run, before Ka Hei Tse responded with 5 points (including his first three for Vikings) to put the home team ahead again. Once again Holme Valley tried to close the gap, but Vikings kept responding and between the 5th and 7th minute went on a 6 - 0 run to increase the gap to 8. The Demons wanting to be in with a chance, changed to a full court press closing the gap slightly. However, York managed to keep its composure and finish the game successfully.
Notes: Jonny Copley's 5 three pointers are a career best with Vikings.
Game MVP: Jonny Copley
