LBL Division 1:
York Vikings (1) 64
- Horsforth Hustlers (1) 61

Vikings firsts were in action facing the Horsforth Hustlers firsts, who last year like Vikings played in the first division. Hustlers are current league leaders and Vikings were looking to get back to a winning record after losing away in the previous league game.

The home team started of strong with Charlie McNichol opening the scoring followed by three from

Anthony Holdsworth. Hustlers came back and tied it all up by the 4th minute. A 8 - 0 run over the next 3 minutes put Vikings ahead, before the away team once again fought back. First quarter score: 14 - 12 for the team from York.

After the first quarter Viking started out strong again going on a 10 - 2 run over the first 4 minutes and taking a 10 point lead. A time out and adjustments by Hustlers stopped the York's team momentum. Hustlers hit a quick 3 started a 12 - 0 a run for the remaining 6 minutes of the quarter. Half time score 26 - 24 for the away team.

Half time changed the dynamics again. Vikings managed to limit the Hustlers to 9 points in the third quarter. On offence, Pat Mackle (who already had 6 points with 2 three pointers) led the charge making 12 out of the 17 points scored by Vikings.

The score was 41 - 35 with the start of the last quarter and everything to play for. Both team struggled to score the initial 3 minutes. The first basket by Pat Mackle for the quarter opened up the scoring for both teams. Hustlers played through their big man, while Pat Mackle scored another basket and Mark Strage scored 8 points (with 2 three pointers) in a row to keep the Vikings ahead. However, the Horsforth team started hitting their outside shots making 5 in the last 4 minutes to close the gap to 1 point with less than 30 seconds remaining. Tactical time outs by both teams and fouls kept the the game open until the very last seconds, when Jonny Copley sealed the game with 2 free throws.

Notes: Mark Strage played up for the first time and scored 11 points and had a personal best 3 three pointers for Vikings. Pat Mackle's 27 points were a Vikings season high and his 6 three pointers were a career best with Vikings.

The teams 12 three pointers made was a Vikings season best so far.
