York Vikings 40
- Hull Stingers West 44
15 January 2025

After the D2 team victory to start the calendar year, the HBA Vikings were looking to get a good start as well. Having narrowly lost to the Stingers East just before the Christmas break, the Vikings were facing the second Stingers team in the league the West team.
With the basketball break over the holidays just behind them, both team started out rusty and as a result the first quarter was very low scoring with the Vikings just managing to go ahead 6 - 4.
The game continued to be a close game in the second quarter with both teams evenly matched. Once again Vikings managed to have the slight edge and win the quarter 14 - 13, to make a half time score of 20 - 17.
Things continued into the second quarter much the same. The teams both evenly matched and once again the York team winning the quarter by a small margin. The quarter score was 13 - 11.
With the start of the fourth quarter Vikings had a 5 point lead, however Stingers West managed to get hot to start the quarter hitting two big threes. Encouraged by this, the Stingers West managed to push ahead, with Vikings struggling to counter. With a big three close to the end of the game by the Stingers, they managed to hold back any comeback by the Vikings and managed to take a narrow win.
Notes: Nelvin Lau offensive resurgence continued and he had his third consecutive game scoring double figures and hitting at least 1 three. Dan Day also continued well on the offensive end having double figures in his 4th consecutive game. Jacob Hancock made his debut with the Vikings.
