HBA Cup:
York Vikings 26
- Hull Uni Hawks (1) 47

York Vikings played their first ever game in a Humber Basketball Association tournament. This was for the HBA Cup, were the team faced the first team of the University of Hull Hawks.

Additionally, two more new players, Hussein Kahil and Nelvin Lau, made their debuts for the York team.

The first quarter started slowly, with both teams struggling to hit shots. York Vikings employed a 2 - 3 zone limiting the drives of the athletic Hull team. On the other side Vikings struggled to get open for shots taking a few difficult ones. The low scoring first quarter ended 7 - 6 for the Hawks.

In the second quarter the accuracy improved. However, between the 3rd and 6th minute the university team managed to capitalize on turnovers from the York team, to score a few quick baskets. Vikings managed to stop the run with a three and by taking care of the ball more on offence. The little run, allowed the Hawks to win the quarter 15 - 11 and take the first half 22 - 17.

To start the second half the Hawks did a full court press, managing to score 6 points in a row, before a timeout and adjustment allowed the Vikings to break the press. Despite breaking the press, Vikings still struggled to score, but the defence held well, finishing the quarter on a 4 - 1 run and the Uni team winning the quarter just by one.

With a 6 point deficit, the Vikings were still in it. However, fitness started taking affect and the much younger uni team took advantage of this and kept winning lose balls and offensive rebounds. The York teams inability to hit shots continued to be a problem, which led to the Hawks having a dominant quarter and win the 4th 18 - 5, and secure the win, eliminating the Vikings from the Cup.
