2024-2025 HBA Championship Season

Vikings for the first time ever had a third men's team, which was entered in Humber Basketball Association Championship Division. The Championship is the 2nd tier in that league.

The team started with returning players Vali Moldovan, Dan Day, Stephen Rowley, Seb Shepherdson, Wale Hassan, Stefan März and Tom Lindley. Hussein Kahil, Nelvin Lau and Tyler Patοn Pottage joined Vikings and the team also saw the return to action of Vikings long standing member Brian Prince. Thomas Marks, due to having to work in Hull, moved to join Team 3.

The team started out with a loss in the cup game playing Hull University Hawks 1 (from the HBA Premiership). With the elimination from the cup the team focused on the league.

In the first league game Vikings faced Grimsby Phoenix one of the early favourites of this division. The team put up a better performance than the first game with Dan Day and Thomas Marks leading, but eventually Grimsby took the win.

The team finally managed to take their first win in the next game against Hull Supremos with Jonny Copley and Vali Moldovan leading the charge. The team made it two consecutive wins in a row in the next game (against Hull University's 2nd team) behind Dan Day's 26 points. However, the team also lost Thomas Marks to a season ending injury.

Against Hull Stingers East, Nelvin Lau got into his own and led the team in scoring. Stingers East, managed however to eke out 1 point win, to have the Vikings end the year with a loss.

The first game of the new year Vikings faced the second Hull Stingers team (West). Like with the other Stingers game, it was very close and the Vikings just could not take the win.

Due to scheduling the team did not play again until March. In March the Vikings managed to get two wins against Hull Kings White and Hull Hornets East with continued strong performances by Dan Day and Nelvin Lau.

In the penultimate game Vikings faced Hull Kings Orange, but the team could not find their previous form and had to take the L. However, the game also showed that age is but a number with Vikings player Brian Prince (68 years old) shared the court with Kings 13 year olds Milo and Lloyd.

In the final game Vikings faced Hull Hornets North. Vikings were hoping to close out the season with a win, but Hornets North came out strong and took the win.

Vikings first season at the HBA ended with a 4-6 league record a lot of good memories. Dan Day took the leagues DPOY award.
