2023-2024 Leeds League Premiership
Season Summary

On Sunday the 7th of April 2024, the Leeds League Premiership season ended with the Play-Off Final. Rawthorpe Cobras were the League Winners, whilst Deighton Ryders managed to win the Play-Offs.


York Vikings 1 Season:


7 players from the previous season returned. The team got boosted by the addition of Adam Wright (PF), Ali Lyons (G/F), Jake Butler (G) and Jamie Boynton (G).


After having won Division 1 last season, the Vikings started their first season back in the Premiership with a win against Leeds Lithuanians 1. This was followed up with a second win against Yorkshire Wizards before hosting eventual League Winners Rawthorpe Cobras. Rawthorpe Cobras who have a former national England player and a few D1/D2 players took the win, but Vikings did make them work for the W. Vikings managed to bounce back in the next game against the Horsforth Hustlers 1.

After that Vikings 1 went on a 6 game losing streak, losing to Mandela Warriors (twice) in close fought games, Yorkshire Wizards, Leeds Demons 1, Deighton Ryders and Rawthorpe Cobras again.

The team headed into the Christmas break with a 3 - 7 record. However, with the start of the new year Vikings managed to end the losing streak and take a hard fought win over Leeds Demons 1. This, however, was followed by a surprise lose against Horsforth Hustlers 1. Once again Vikings brushed the loss of and went on to beat eventual Play Off winners Deighton Ryders. The regular season ended with a forfeit by Leeds Lithuanians 1.


The final season record was 7 - 8 with a 5th place finish.


In the play offs, Vikings 1 played Leeds Demons 1. In the regular season both teams had won their respective home court games. With the Demons finishing 1 spot ahead of the Vikings, the game was held in Leeds and the trend continued, with Demons taking the win and Vikings 1 bowing out in the Quarter Finals.
